Balancing RC aircraft

June 19, 2008

A proper balance between your rc aircraft is so important that safe to fly, because any deviation from the model Center of Gravity (CG) can and will probably lead to the fact that the design is completely uncontrollable.
Each rc-aircraft well-CG, this is a point on which the model balances fore-backwards. If you have constructed a plan, so that the CG is entered in the plan. If you’ve purchased the ARF or RTF plane, so the manufacturer’s instruction manual should tell you the extent to which CG is that the model.
Very poorly balanced rc-plane will at best be difficult to control, and this applies in particular to the tail-heavy aircraft. At worst, the plane will crash, a few seconds for the air!

The steady RC aircraft - a method

High wing of teachers is the lightest aircraft to balance, and if it is the first flight, so it is likely to be the case.
Of course, is the first asia, you should do is to find the right center of the seriousness of the plan, or the manual. As a general rule, rule of thumb, the CG is about one-third of the wing chord (width), the leading edge of the wing.
Place the tips oman finger or middle finger, each of the wing, the line in CG. A few inches of the barrel is a good asia. Careful lift the aircraft, so it is clear to any surface, and let it hang freely with your fingers.
A properly balanced the aircraft is either flat or in the nose pointing down a little bit. If the tail pointing down, so the design is the tail heavy, and you need to do something about it.The steady rc aircraft in hand
If the balance is not necessary to amend the first asia to do is to try to transfer any rc gear, either forward or further back inside the aircraft. By doing this, you can change the balance without adding extra weight to the model, in the form of ballast.
Battery pack is the best thing to try to move, because it is heavy, and so will have the biggest impact. Carefully trying to reposition it to the post of the balance of the plan, every time, you can go to it. When you’re comfortable with the new balance, make sure that the battery will always be staying in his new position.
If you’re not able to reposition something, which has often happened in the rich air, you may have to add ballast either the nose or the tail of the aircraft. You must remember, however, that the ballast water more dead weight of a model - the lighter the aircraft is, the better it works. So, if you make it to be necessary to add ballast to correct CG, adding as little as possible.
The way to do this is to add ballast, as far forward or as far back as you can, with the model. By doing so, the ballast is the most significant impact CG. Add just enough for you to make the flight the balance right at your fingertips.

Balancing the roll of your flight

This is often neglected in the balance, and, in many ways is not very important. But rc-aircraft, which is on one side heavier than the others, is a natural tendency to roll and deal with heavier side, which will make life a little more difficult.
But the roll balance is not nearly as important as the fore-aft balance of the above-mentioned. If there is something seriously wrong with the aircraft does not spiral out of control, just because one of the wing is a little heavier than the other!
In order to balance the machine oman roll, a simple loop to a number of thread around the propeller shaft, between Spinner and a barrel, and then some around behind the barrel, so close to the tail, which you can get.Lift the plane up and let it hang freely - see if it wants to go to one side or the other. If it does not, then you need to add some small ballest, wingtip is lighter (high). Add just enough to make the plane hang at the level of the view in front. Taping weights, the wingtip is an easy way, but you may want to take the trouble to take them into account the wingtip, then, for more than they hide them.
Balancing the roll, the aircraft rc
So you have it … the two methods in balancing rc planes. As already mentioned, the fore-aft balance is quite critical, if you want to keep your plane in one piece; roll the balance is not as critical, but it should be done if you have time.A properly balanced level will always be a safer and easier to fly, and it does not need as much trimming the transmitter.
